“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again” (5:14-15). “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (5:17)
How long have I wanted to die? More exactly, how long have I wanted to change myself? – (Change or transformation can mean dying in old being and living in new being). I have lived not even for myself but for my desire – my sinful desire. Apostle Paul says it was not I but “sin living in me” (Romans 7:20). I have lived as a slave of my sin and lived to fill up what sin wants. However, Jesus died for me (for all) and, therefore I (all) died in him. My old being died in Jesus. I don’t have to live for my sin as the slave of my sin anymore but I can now freely live for my Creator, God, and for my savior, Jesus Christ. That is true life and true freedom. That is the meaning and the purpose of life and that is what I meant to be. When we accept our death (of our old being) and submit ourselves completely to Jesus, we will be born again and taste true life and freedom. We are a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come. There is true life only in Christ (only when we die in our old being (old sinful desire) and truly accept Jesus as our Lord).
